A note on a related controversy

A full treatment of a related question, whether the "Israel" of prophecy is the modern political state, has been placed in the Appendix rather than in the main argument. It bears on this study at one point: the 144,000 of Revelation 7 are sealed "of all the tribes of the children of Israel," so the definition of Israel affects the verdict on the tiered-Zion doctrine. But the principal case of this document does not depend on it, and a reader who differs on covenant theology, dispensationalism, or the modern state can weigh the entire argument of Parts I through X without resolving that dispute. It is offered in the Appendix for those who wish to pursue it.
