Here the attainment system contradicts not only Scripture but itself. The attainment system affirms that redemption by Christ is "complete and perfect." But a complete redemption cannot leave the redeemed's final standing incomplete, pending their consecration performance. Either the cross finished the work (John 19:30) or the worker finishes it; the attainment system affirms the first in its statement of faith and denies it in its Zion doctrine. Likewise, the attainment system affirms the new birth as God's work, yet suspends every subsequent blessing, and effectively the believer's eternal address, on human attainment, so that the outcome of God's finished work is made to wait, at every point after the new birth, on the sufficiency of man's.
